Crew Lord It In Parliament
Big BenRedcar Lifeboat crew were invited to spend a VIP day in the Houses of Parliament in January 2005 at the personal invitation of Redcar MP, Vera Baird QC.

12 members of the crew were given a private tour of the Palace of Westminster, including both the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The visit was crowned with a brisk climb up the 393 steps to the Bell Floor where they stood next to the famous 'Big Ben' bell as it struck 12 Noon.

After their descent Vera Baird joined the crew for lunch and the day was rounded off with a return to the House of Lords where the crew were given the privilege of sitting in the MP's gallery to watch the proceedings of the day.
