Rescue – 7 January 2016

The first emergency of the year for the volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboats had an good outcome without the lifeboat even having to launch.

UK Coastguard received a call from a member of the public who reported a surfer was in difficulties in heavy seas at Saltburn.

The RNLI lifefeboat from redcar was requested to attend. However, while the crew were assembling, the coastguards received a further call to report that the surfer had managed to make their own way back to the beach.

Once it was confirmed that the surfer was safe and well, the lifeboat launch was cancelled.
