Rescue – Friday 6 May 2016
The Redcar RNLI lifeboat was tasked on Friday 6 May 2016 to go to the assistance of a broken down hovercraft.
The hovercraft had lost power to its propulsion fan so the pilot beached the craft approximately 1.5 miles north west of the lifeboat station.
Two crew members were sent ashore and rigged a tow rope so that the hovercraft, which was still able to inflate its skirt, could be brought back to Redcar.
The RNLI team then helped the pilot put the hovercraft back on to its trailer.
