Rescue – 10 March 2017
The RNLI lifeboats from Redcar were launched on Friday 10 March 2017 to assist other emergency services in the search for a man believed to have gone missing in the South Gare area of Redcar.
The lifeboats launched just before 1.30pm and searched between the North Gare and Marske and along a stretch of the River tees.
While the lifeboats were searching, police and coastguard officers ashore discovered the body of a man close to the shoreline at South Gare.
Crew members from the lifeboats assisted police and coastguard officers in transferring the man into the Redcar inshore lifeboat, which then transported him to a nearby slipway and placed him into the care of police officers.
