Saved Sailor Strides Out!
After he was helped by the Redcar lifeboat, a local man has been striding out to raise funds for the Crew Training Campaign.

Back in August 2007, Robert Smith, his dad and another friend were on his dad's fishing boat when it ran into difficulties off Redcar. See here for picture of the rescue.

Robert had been considering doing a sponsored walk from the Zetland Lifeboat Museum in Redcar to the Whitby Lifeboat Museum in aid of Redcar RNLI for sometime prior to this incident, so he decided it was pay back time.

Robert persuaded 2 friends, Mark Wilks and Alan Rice, to come along for the walk. They set off via the Cleveland Way at 07:15 and arrived at Whitby RNLI Museum at 18:15. On route they were spotted by a farmers wife, in Hummersea, who provided a fresh cup of tea and also donated £10. Once in Whitby, the Quayside Fish Restaurant were kind enough to give the tired trio free fish and chips. Thanks to Stuart and Rosanna for that. Their efforts raised just over £400 towards the Redcar crews Training Campaign.
