Cheers, Joanne!
After she saw the Redcar lifeboat in action, young Joanne Norris decided to help. Joanne and her mum Pauline watched the lifeboat returning from the rescue of a stranded yacht on 19 August 2007 (click here for details) and decided to raise money for the station.

The pair baked, gathered jumble and bric-a-brac and held a fundraising event in the local hall in their home village of Mickleby, North yorkshire.

Pauline said "We watched the lifeboat coming back from the rescue and thought we'd like to do something to raise money.

"We expected to get about £100 but when we finally counted everything we had £260.

"We even had a few cakes and scones left over for the crew so we brought them to the lifeboat station when we delivered the money we had raised."

Pictured below is Pauline with daughter Joanne and the Redcar crew enjoying a cake with their cuppa.
