Rescue - Saturday 24 June 2017
A woman was rescued by Redcar RNLI crews from the base of Huntcliff, Saltburn on Saturday 24 June 2017 after she became cut-off by the rising tide.
The woman had been jogging from Redcar towards Skinningrove when she realised her way forward was blocked by the tide and then her escape route towards Saltburn had also become submerged.
The Redcar lifeboats launched at around 2.30pm and once on scene a crew member swam ashore to check the woman’s wellbeing before she was picked up by lifeboat.
She was landed ashore near the Ship Inn, Saltburn, and placed into the care of a coastguard rescue team.
Video of the rescue can be seen below and on the RNLI website. Click here.
Earlier in the day the Redcar lifeboat was launched to tow back to Redcar a fishing boat which had suffered steering failure.
