Rescue - Sunday 20 September 2015

The RNLI lifeboats from Redcar were launched on Sunday 20 September 2015 after UK Coastguard received 999 calls reporting two people in difficulties in the sea near the Majuba car park, Redcar.

The lifeboats launched at around 11.30am and when they arrived at the reported location the crews found the two people who had been in the sea were ashore.

An 11-year old male child had gone into the sea. A woman had attempted to rescue the child, but got into difficulties herself.

An off-duty police officer saw the two and rescued the child while the woman managed to make her own way back to safety.

The lifeboat crews gave first aid to the pair until ambulances arrived to take the child and woman to hospital.
